The Magical World of Peter Sis

Peter Sis, an award-winning filmmaker, Caldecott - honor - winning illustrator and author of many acclaimed children's books, including Tibet: Through the Red Box and The Three Golden Keys, will be exhibiting "The Magical World of Peter Sis," through March 26, 2000. This exhibit features the breathtaking, intricately-detailed illustrations from Sis's famous books, a collection of Sis's "treasure boxes," and videos of his award-winning films.

"This exhibit is truly something special," said Tris Dows, acting director of the museum. "We are so lucky to have Peter Sis's exquisite artwork here." She added, "'The Magical World of Peter Sis' isn't just for children-all ages can appreciate his fantastic, magical illustrations." (right: And That Is Where they Stayed, 40.6 x 33 centimeters)

Jennifer Vigil, curator, said, "Viewers of this exhibit will be inspired by the memories, discoveries and adventures that Peter documents in his illustrations. We are honored to present this retrospective of Peter Sis's work because we at the museum understand how art and literature can shape children's imaginations."
