Outside TFAO's website use outside search engines to help you locate videos. TFAO uses:

• blinkx which says that it "uses a unique combination of patented conceptual search, speech recognition and video analysis software to efficiently, automatically and accurately find and qualify online video"
• Google video, a pioneer in video search

When using public search engines, TFAO suggests advanced search phrases in quotes including artist names and topic names from TFAO's American Representational Art catalogue. Using blinkx, TFAO entered the phrase "American painter" and retrieved 46 videos; "Georgia O'Keeffe" netted 65 videos.

The catalogues's goals include:

• offering to the public a comprehensive resource of online videos for the study and understanding of American representational art.

This catalogue is 100% maintained by volunteers. They provide new content on a continuous basis with the intent of maintaining the world's most complete catalog of online videos within its category. Qualified volunteers are welcome to contribute suggestions for additional catalogue development. Catalogue audit

From time to time, TFAO audits the contents of this catalogue. TFAO's audit of the link to a content page on a source's site, other than TFAO or Resource Library, may reveal that the link is broken. If broken, TFAO keeps the title of the prior content page and eliminates the link. A note is placed after the content title such as: (Link found expired as of 8/12/09 audit. Source site may contain this content via a revised URL)

TFAO may attempt to find the content with a broken link at another location on the source's site. This is done by using the advanced search feature on search engines such as Google, enabling searches for exact wording or phrases in a site. If the attempt is not successful, TFAO makes a note of the failed search. A note is placed after the content title such as: (8/12/09 advanced search failed to locate content on source's site)

TFAO believes that retention of the title of content that existed on a page with the broken link is important. The content may be:

• available from the source offline (not through TFAO or Resource Library)
• still on the source's site but with a different title
• on the source's site but no longer available in a format that can be addressed by search
• no longer on the source's site
